Welding Apprentice
This one-year (30 week) Certificate provides students with specialized technical knowledge in welding theory. This program is designed as a pathway to obtain an Apprentice status when sponsored by a New Jersey based company. This program is credit generating; therefore, Associates degrees of programs related to the discipline may be inclined to consider completion of these courses for transfer. This program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge of welding processes to fabricate, repair and maintain manufactured weldments, industrial machinery and equipment.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of the program, the graduate will be able to:
- Define industry-recognized best practices for everyday workplace situations.
- Identify welding system components and be able to set up the appropriate systems for standard welding processes.
- Identify hazardous situations and be able to execute safely within the industrial welding environment.
- Classify electricity in all of its forms used in the welding process.
- Choose proper welding and cutting techniques to create products and maintain industrial and commercial equipment.
